In order to make connections between world politics and the role of the United States, the instructor and the students watched the documentary video, "The Road to 9/11". The documentary looks at the political, economic and social relationships of the United States with Middle Eastern countries and how our actions (in history) have contributed to a growing resentment among Arab nations. The students were asked to pay attention to the "choices" we have made and to examine whether our decision-making was based on short-term or long-term goals and what issues may have been present that could have influenced that decision (communism, oil, economics, etc).
