Today, the instructor covered the early lives of Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler and how their political developments lead to the rise of Totalitarianism/Dictatorships. During the course of the lecture and discussion, the instructor highlighted how "fear" or "terror" was used as a tactic to keep power (Black Shirts, Checka and SS/Gestapo) while they all used legal methods to initially gain the power and support of their citizens. Before the close of the period, the instructor also went over the Unit 7 Vocabulary to assist with language development and context for certain important terms in the curriculum.
